Brit appoints underwriting director

International general insurance and reinsurance group Brit Insurance has announced the appointment of Richard Carver as underwriting director in the firm’s Reinsurance strategic business unit.

Carver, who takes up his new position in later September, will be directly responsible to Brit Reinsurance Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Turner.

He brings extensive experience in the fields of underwriting and broking, across both the Lloyd’s and company markets, to his new post.

Carver joins Brit from Aon Benfield, where he spent the last eight years as an executive director in the Specialty Reinsurance Team.

In his new role with Brit, he will become responsible for supervision of the Reinsurance unit’s underwriting teams, and will support the improvement of portfolios whilst collaborating with Turner to enact Brit’s business unit strategy.

Turner has warmly welcomed the appointment, praising Carver’s technical skills and market knowledge.
